About Me
Welcome to my page! I created this page to share my digital portfolio with future employers as well as the communication’s community. On this site, you can find my résumé, digital artwork, writing samples, contact information, and links to my social media pages.
I love art, design, photography, writing, and reading. This love directed me to complete my Associate’s degree in Graphic Arts in just a year and a half after graduating from high school. Since then I have had the opportunity to move around the country as a military spouse.
Being a military spouse has given me a unique set of skills. I am able to change and adapt to new situations very quickly. I have had the pleasure of meeting many people from all different backgrounds, which has shown me the world from different perspectives.
In addition to being a military spouse, I have also spent time as a stay at home parent. Let me tell you of all the jobs I have had, I believe that my job as a stay at home parent was the hardest for me to adjust to. I had my first job at 13 years old (detasseling corn) and had always had a job until my son was born. Realizing that I was making important contributions to my family, in ways other than financially, took me a few years. Looking back, I now know that I made the right decision for my family and myself. Being a military family is hard, especially during deployments. Being at home allowed me to provide my children stability and support during those difficult times.
Moving across the country also brought the opportunity for me to homeschool my children. It was a daunting endeavor in the beginning because I was not sure where to start, but I did my research and I figured it out. I was able to successfully home school my children for two years. When they re-entered the traditional school setting, both of my children tested well above average for their ages and grade levels.
Now that my husband has retired from the military and my eldest son has left for college, I am looking forward to re-entering the workforce. I am excited to share the skills I have acquired as a military spouse, stay at home parent, and home school instructor, along with the technical abilities learned throughout my studies with you and your organization. I would like to contribute my skills with an organization that empowers its individuals to embrace life’s unexpected journeys and use it to create a better future.
